The Runway Light Controller (Pilot Controlled Lighting) is intended to offer a convenient way for a pilot to turn on runway lights from the air using VHF radio frequency.
The controller is factory-set to continuously monitor a pre-set aircraft-band frequency. The frequency may be set from 108.00 to 140.00 MHz. Upon receipt of a microphone key sequence of 5 pulses of approximately 0.5 second on each, within 10 seconds, the controller will activate an output relay to turn on the runway lights for a period of 15 minutes. At the end of the on-time, the controller will blink the lights for 15 seconds as a warning before turning off the lights. The controller may be retriggered at any time during the sequence which will reset the unit for another 15 minute cycle.
